The Plymouth Police Department had a busy day of traffic enforcement on Sunday, April 26th, conducting multiple stops that resulted in the arrest of four individuals for driving without a valid license.
The string of arrests began Sunday morning. At 8:35 a.m., Officer Krynock stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Jefferson and Fifth Streets for a traffic infraction. The driver, 38-year-old Jonathon Lockwood of Knox, was found to be driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction. Lockwood was lodged at the Marshall County Jail, where he was issued a court date and a cash bond.
Later that morning, at 11:15 a.m., Officer Krynock conducted another traffic stop for an infraction on U.S. 30 at U.S. 31. The driver, 39-year-old Gloria Perez Gonzalez of Fort Wayne, was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail after officers determined she had never received a driver's license.
The traffic enforcement continued into the afternoon and evening. Patrolman Thornton initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling east on U.S. 30 at Michigan Street. During the stop, it was discovered that the driver, 30-year-old Brandi Rachelle Stults of Peru, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. She was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for driving while suspended with a prior suspension within the last 10 years.
Finally, at 5:15 p.m., Patrolman Thornton stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Beerenbrook and Madison Streets. The driver, 18-year-old Epson Desailid Reyes Rios of Seventh Street in Plymouth, was found to be driving without ever having obtained a license. Reyes Rios was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail on the corresponding charge.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
