The Illinois Department of Transportation opened a call for locations for a special round of funding available through the Illinois National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program.
Approximately $30 million is available through the program’s fourth round of funding availability.
Applications must be received by July 20. A significantly streamlined application process requires only the submission of site location information, including a map, simple schematic and photos as well as answers to basic questions about the proposed project. All application materials can be found on the IDOT website at idot.click/NEVI.
Locations may be anywhere in Illinois and may be designed to serve passenger vehicles as well as medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. All projects must comply with federal rules and requirements for the NEVI program, which allows for construction of DC fast chargers, slower Level 2 chargers, or a combination of the two.
Selected locations will be announced by the end of August.
To explain the funding opportunity and how to apply, IDOT is hosting an informational webinar on Wednesday, July 8, at 1 p.m. Registration may be completed at idot.click/NEVI-4.
A recording of the webinar will be available throughout the application period.
Submissions received during this round will be reviewed by IDOT. If necessary, the department may reach out to clarify information on the applications. In addition to this special round of funding, IDOT plans to open a standard Notice of Funding Opportunity later this year.
