The Lawrence County Democratic Committee has announced that a public town hall meeting will be held later this month for Julie Fornier, who is running for election to the U.S. House to represent the Illinois 12th Congressional District in Washington, D.C.
The 34-county district, which contains Lawrence County, is currently represented by incumbent Republican Mike Bost,who is seeking re-election.
Those attending will have the opportunity to ask questions of Fornier, who is a U.S. Air Force veteran, mother and cancer researcher from O'Fallon about issues affecting the district and Lawrence County.
The public will also have the chance to meet local Democratic candidates running for office. Billie Ralston is seeking the office of Lawrence County Treasurer and Sheryl Ring-Laakman is running for the Lawrence County Board--District 7 seat.
The event will be on Monday, July 20th from 2 until 4 p.m. CDT at the Lawrenceville Armory located at 1522 Porter Avenue. Light refreshments will be served.
A food drive will be held in conjunction with the meeting and attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to donate.
