The city of St. Francisville is continuing to prepare for the week-long closure of the old Wabash Cannonball Bridge.

Mayor T.J. Moye told the city council Wednesday that repair work on the structure is set to begin on Monday, July 13th and will last through Friday, July 17th. The city hired a West Salem construction company for $60,000 to replace all the old boards and ties along the entire span, necessitating that the entire bridge will be shut down to vehicular traffic day and night. It is anticipated that two separate crews will be working- one during the day and the other at night to complete the project.

Police Chief Billy Darnell told GIANT-FM News that travelers will have to find alternate routes into Indiana and from Indiana into Illinois. He urged motorists to use caution and plan ahead.
