'It is important we show the community sees the need and is willing to take the necessary steps to see Little Zebbies over the finish line.'
Rochester Schools Superintendent Jana Vance reports that indicators suggest the school district's Little Zebbies Child Care project will receive approval in the second round of funding through the state's Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative, better known as READI 2.0.
The project includes the building of a facility, which will allow the school district to open a community daycare facility. Vance says there is still one step remaining in the process.
"As we approach the final stages, we need letters of support from the community at large, but the business community especially," she said. "It is important we show the community sees the need and is willing to take the necessary steps to see Little Zebbies over the finish line."
"To this end, some of you have indicated your willingness to financially support this project via 'purchasing' seats or making financial donations," she added. "Commitments such as these in a letter of support would go a long way to showing the necessary community support as we approach the final approval deadline. I am asking for such a commitment in a support letter on your company letterhead."
Those who are not able to help support financially, but do see a need for a child care facility, are still encouraged to express their support in written form.
Vance says letters of support need to be received by Friday, Aug. 23. They can be emailed to her at jana.vance@zebras.net or dropped off at the school administration office at 690 Zebra Lane.
For questions and a template to work from, email Vance or call her at 574-223-1575.
