County police arrested the driver of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of U.S. 31 on Sunday night, February 9th.
At approximately 9:38 PM, Marshall County Police were dispatched to the area of U.S. 31 and 14th Road for reports of a red 2009 Toyota traveling north in the south lanes of U.S. 31.
Officer Wozniak was able to locate the vehicle on U.S. 31, approximately 3 miles south of U.S. 6.
The driver did not stop even with police lights activated. In the areas of U.S. 31 and U.S. 6, officers were able to safely enter the southbound lanes ahead of the vehicle, and it finally stopped.
During Officer Wozniak’s investigation, it was determined that the driver, Dolores M. Hernandez, 47, of Muckshaw Road in Argos, was under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety testing was completed, and a certified test later showed her to be over two times the legal limit.
Hernandez was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for operating a vehicle while intoxicated prior conviction, reckless driving, and failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. She was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial by jury, at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
