Three Shelby County wrestlers advanced out of the IHSAA’s inaugural round of girls sectional tournaments Friday.
Triton Central sent eight wrestlers to the Perry Meridian Sectional and two advanced to the regional tournament.
Sophomore Zoie Gray finished third at 190 pounds to qualify for the regional. Gray lost her opening match then won three straight to secure her advancement.
At 105 pounds, freshman Aubrie Propp went 2-2 in her bracket and finished fourth. She will join Gray at the regional.
Gray and Propp will compete at the Alexandria Monroe Regional Friday at 9 a.m. The Tigers will be joined by sectional qualifiers from Alexandria Monroe, Muncie Central, Eastern Hancock and Perry Meridian.

At the West Washington Sectional, Shelbyville sophomore Jessica Price (photo, far right) finished fourth at 105 pounds to advance to the regional.
Price won her first match before losing to eventual sectional champion Kaitlynn Fouty of Whiteland. She then returned to the mat and defeated Bloomington South’s Valerie Pope to reach the third-place match.
Price will compete in the Mooresville Regional at 11 a.m. Friday. Also advancing to the regional are sectional qualifiers from Mt. Vernon, Ben Davis and Floyd Central.
