The Mt. Carmel Golden Aces continued their dominance over the Lawrenceville Indians in football Friday, October 16th with a 46-0 win at Ed Loeb Field in Lawrenceville.

The win was the 28th straight victory for Mt. Carmel in the long series of meetings between the two schools. The last Indian win was in 1978.

The 2026 Little Illini Conference (LIC) champions came out strong as they bottled up the Indian offense in their own end and scored 26 points to lead 26-0 after one quarter and added 20 more in the second to lead 46-0 at the half and never looked back in rolling to an unbeaten season at 9-0, their first since 2021.

The loss on Senior Night capped a disappointing season for the Indians of head coach Cory Joergans who were winless at 0-9 overall and 0-7 in the LIC. The shutout loss was the second of the year for the Indians. The season comes to an end for the Tribe, who failed to qualify for the IHSA playoffs.
