If the trials are any indication of the speed and competitiveness of the fillies headed to the final, racing fans at Horseshoe Indianapolis are in for a treat.
The inaugural Horseshoe Indianapolis final is slated for Nov. 12 with a base purse of $50,000. A total of three trials were held Wednesday with Seven Beaches (photo) taking home the quickest time in the final trial of the night.
Seven Beaches and L. Daniel Martinez began from post five and had to work to get control of the race. Suzys Kristine and Giovani Vazquez-Gomez took over the top shot early in a heated battle with Seven Beaches.
As the field moved through the 350-yard sprint, neither filly was giving an inch. In the end, Seven Beaches was able to get the slight advantage by a head on the outside of Suzys Kristine. Remember Da Queen and Eduardo Diaz finished third.
Time of the race was 17.687 seconds.
Seven Beaches was not favored, paying $8.20 for the win. The grey three-year-old daughter of Escondido Beach is owned by Pam Hann and trained by Tony Cunningham. It was the sophomore filly’s second career win and fourth overall as she leads the field to the final.

The second fastest trial was turned in by Sydney Jack and Rolando Pina as the duo led gate to wire in a time of 17.756. Sauce C and Saul Lopez finished second over Kissin N Memphis and Giovani Vazquez-Gomez for third.
Sydney Jack is owned by Jordan, Gabi, and Gordon Timm. She was a $12,000 purchase from the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale as a yearling. Tim Eggleston, the track’s current leading Quarter Horse trainer, handles the conditioning of the Dulce Sin Tacha filly.
All three trial winners will advance to the final with HH Shakem Cate and Giovani Vazquez-Gomez winning the middle trial. The duo fended off Candy Spice and Hugo Macias and Cynter of Attention and Irving Moncada to win the photo finish in a time of 17.790.
HH Shaken Cate is owned by Brisa Alia Ventura Hernandez and trained by Jessi Vazquez. The Escondido Beach filly is five for eight in her young career. She was a $25,000 purchase from the QHRAI Speed Sale as a yearling.
