Tippecanoe Valley High School names Class of 2025 valedictorian to be Mercedes Herrera, left, and salutatorian to be Mackaylie Costello.
Tippecanoe Valley High School is proud to announce the Class of 2025 valedictorian and salutatorian, recognizing their outstanding academic achievements, leadership and dedication to excellence.
Earning the title of valedictorian for the Class of 2025 is Mercedes Herrera, daughter of Ignacio Herrera and Mercedes Rios De Herrera. Throughout her high school career, Mercedes has demonstrated remarkable academic excellence, leadership and a commitment to success.
Outside the classroom, Mercedes has been actively involved in Youth Council, a faith-based organization that has helped develop her leadership and commitment to serving others. She has also participated in Spanish Club and competed on the Mock Trial team as a junior. She finds inspiration in Mr. Walker, whose daily encouragement, whether through a simple fist bump or a thoughtful conversation, has made a lasting impact on students.
After graduation, Mercedes plans to attend Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, where she will continue her academic journey and pursue her future aspirations.
Recognized as the salutatorian for the Class of 2025 is Mackaylie Costello, daughter of Ryan and Addie Costello. Mackaylie’s dedication to her studies and commitment to personal and academic growth have placed her among the top of her class.
In addition to her academic achievements, Mackaylie has been deeply involved in volleyball and softball for all four years, as well as student council, student council leadership, National Honor Society and Sunshine Society. She has also devoted her time to various community service projects, finding great fulfillment in giving back to others. Inspired by Mr. Walker, Mackaylie strives to treat everyone with kindness and brighten someone’s day, just as he has done for his students.
After high school, Mackaylie plans to attend Purdue University Fort Wayne, where she will continue her path toward future success.
“We are incredibly proud of Mercedes and Mackaylie for their hard work and dedication throughout their years at Tippecanoe Valley," TVHS Principal Brandon Kresca said. “Their perseverance, leadership, and commitment to excellence serve as an inspiration to their peers and the entire Valley community.”
To honor their achievements, TVHS hosted a special reception on Friday to celebrate Mercedes and Mackaylie with their families, teachers and administrators.
