Wabash River crests at Vincennes; still under flood warning

Things are improving along the Wabash River at Vincennes, Indiana.

The National Weather Service (NWS) now says the river has crested at that location. It rose to a level of 18.8 feet late on Wednesday, August 26th before cresting and is now beginning to slowly fall. The Wabash was measured on the morning of Thursday, August 27th at 18.65 feet and is now forecast to fall below its 16-foot flood stage on Saturday, August 29th.

The Flood Warning issued earlier in the week remains in effect as some minor flooding continues in both Knox County, Indiana and in eastern Lawrence County. Illinois.

Flood Warnings also continue for the Wabash River at Mt. Carmel, Illinois and for the White River from Petersburg to Hazelton in southwestern Indiana.
