Plymouth Police make 3 traffic-related arrests on Monday

The Plymouth Police Department had a busy start to the week, making three separate traffic-related arrests throughout the day on Monday, April 6. The incidents ranged from driving without a license to operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The first incident occurred during the morning commute. At approximately 8:33 a.m., Officer Krynock initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of U.S. 30 and Oak Drive.

During the stop, police identified the driver as 42-year-old Nicole L. Patrick of Peru. A check of her records revealed that Patrick was driving with a prior suspended license status. She was taken into custody and lodged at the Marshall County Jail.

Later that afternoon, at 12:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Lady Bug Laundry at 803 West Jefferson Street following a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot.

According to Patrolman Wallace, the initial investigating officer, a caller reported seeing the driver passed out behind the wheel while the vehicle was slowly rolling down Fifth Street. Police identified the driver as 37-year-old Cheryl Straws, who resides in the 200 block of North Michigan Street in Plymouth. Straws was arrested at the scene and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI).

The third arrest took place that evening at approximately 8:15 p.m. Officer Allen conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of North Michigan and West Garro Streets.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 50-year-old Roger Fisher of Marshall Street in Argos, was found to be operating the vehicle without ever having obtained a driver's license. Fisher was subsequently arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made
