The Parke County Sheriff's Office is issuing a warning about a popular site for those interested in the paranormal as the haunting season nears.
The Sheriff's Office posted the following information on its Facebook page:
The Haunted Indiana State Sanatorium is located in Parke County, just east of Rockville, on US36. Back in its origination, the facility was first known as the Indiana State Sanatorium, where it functioned as a State of Indiana Tuberculosis Hospital. Later in its existence, it would transition to and become a nursing home as well as a private mental hospital, known as Lee Alan Bryant.
Because of its widely known and promoted history, specifically to the paranormal community, the property is highly sought after to explore by paranormal enthusiast. The current owners purchased the property with that in mind! And lucky for you, there are legal ways to do this. They would be happy to have you as a day guest, or dare if you do, an overnight guest! However, what we do not suggest is, trespassing. This property is privately owned. Signs are clearly posted on the property to notify you. Even telling you that law enforcement will be called if you ignore them. So whatever you see on any social media platform that tells you it's okay otherwise, it is advised to not follow that advise.
