LCMH receives USDA federal grant for $450,000

Lawrence County Memorial Hospital (LCMH) welcomed local officials and dignitaries to the medical facility in Lawrenceville Monday, June 22nd for the presentation of a $450,000 check to be used to upgrade healthcare services.

Molly Hammond, USDA Rural Development Deputy State Director formally presented the money to hospital CEO Amy Hurley, hospital board chairman Carl Aten and other members of the hospital's administrative team.

Hammond told GIANT-FM News that the funding is through the Community Facilities Local and Grant Program and was secured through the office of senior U.S. Senator Richard Durbin. The program assists rural communities, municipalities, and non-profit organizations with an essential facility such as a hospital with such things as equipment, real estate and other eligible expenses.

 Hurley says that the money is being used for needed med department modifications, new ultrasound technology, and a new anesthesia machine which will improve patient care.
