The extensive flooding of northern and eastern Indiana has led to flood warnings being issued for rivers in Knox County.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Warning in effect for the Wabash River at Vincennes from late Tuesday, August 18th until further notice. The river early Monday, August 17th was at 12.9 feet and rising. It is forecast to continue a steady rise and rise above its 30-foot flood stage on Wednesday August 19th. The crest is predicted to come Sunday, August 23rd at around 21.5 feet, well above its 16-foot flood stage.
The White River at Edwardsport, Indiana is under a Flood Warning until Monday, August 24. The river early Monday, August 17th was at 14.7 feet and rising rapidly. It is forecast to rise above its 15-foot flood stage late Monday and crest at 21 feet on that August 17th date. Flood stage is 15 feet.
Those living in flood-prone areas are urged to monitor river levels and watch for watch out for waters covering roads near the rivers.
