Last week, Plymouth’s Assistant Fire Chief Chuy Garcia presented a request to the county commissioners for grant funds to provide county-wide training.
Assistant Chief Garcia said each department in the county will have the opportunity to send four to five firefighters to an extrication training on Oct. 4. He said McQueen Services has offered to donate some instructors and extrication tools so participants will get hands-on training.
The assistant chief said there will be sixteen cars and a school bus that participants will be able to use the jaws-of-life as well as other tools.
Commissioner Adam Faulstich asked Garcia to take attendance at the training. He commented that the commissioners will be interested in seeing which department participates in the training because it could affect their requests for grant funds in the future.
Assistant Chief Garcia asked for up to $2,000, and the commissioners unanimously approved his request to fund a county-wide extrication training on Oct. 4.
John Grolich was before the commissioners to update them on the fire grant he was awarded to purchase two drones for the fire services in the county. When Grolich ordered the drones, he found the company had omitted three items he specifically requested. The first was thermo-imaging, the second was a loudspeaker, and the final was a larger display screen.
The additional cost was $196. The commissioners approved the new grant of up to $19,000.
