On Monday, August 3, 2026, Larry Joe Ice passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by love and peace. He was born in Vincennes, IN on November 14, 1948, to Woodrow and Lorene (Calvin) Ice.
Larry married his soulmate, Becky Buchanan, on June 26, 1993, in the First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. For 33 years, Larry and Becky enjoyed their time together having fun and building lasting memories together.
As a young man, he served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he worked as a welder out of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 136 of Evansville, IN for many years until his retirement. Larry had been an active member of the Lawrenceville Moose Lodge where he had served as a past Governor and as a Fellow of the Moose and was a former member of the American Legion.
Larry enjoyed spending time golfing, going boating, going out to eat, spur of the moment trips, reminiscing about life, telling funny stories, and simply relaxing at home watching car races on TV.
Those honored to have lived life with Larry and remember him with love include: his wife- Becky Ice of Lawrenceville, IL; one daughter- Amber Eagleson and husband Ryan of Evansville, IN; one son- Joshua Ice and wife Mandi of Haubstadt, IN; three grandchildren- Emily Yarber and husband Steven of Anchorage, AK, Cooper Rice of Evansville, IN, and Presleigh Eagleson of Evansville, IN; two sisters-in-law- Mary Ann Ricker and husband Harvey of St. Francisville, IL and Martha Jane Buehler of Winona Lake, IN; three brothers-in-law- Charlie Buchanan and wife Nancy of Flora, IL , Jim Buchanan and wife Vicky of Apex, NC, and Larry Hoh of Lanesville, IN; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents- Woodrow and Lorene Ice; two sisters- Beverly Tussey and husband Kenneth and Patricia Hoh; one brother- Keith Ice; and one brother-in-law- Hugh Buehler.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Saturday morning, August 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Buchanan Cemetery.
