A car seat safety event will be take place in Winamac, Friday, May 29, with the Safe Kids Northwest Indiana and the National Safety Council at the Winamac Fire Department from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The event will provide inspections to ensure car seats are installed safely, as well as safety education about car seats and is a needs-based program for Indiana residents. The child must be present at the inspection while caregivers are having their car seats inspected.
During that time kids will be able to look at the Winamac Fire Department’s fleet of trucks and enjoy a free hot dog, thanks to donations by the VFW Winamac Post 1728 and is being hosted by the Pulaski County Health Department and Pulaski Memorial Hospital.
Expectant moms need to be at least 34 weeks pregnant to qualify for this assistance. Exceptions will be made, however, for twins and triplets. Several car seats will also be available for qualifying families.
Questions about the event can be answered to those interested by the Pulaski County Health Department by calling 574-946-6080.
