Shelbyville golf captured the team title at its own Golden Bear Invitational Wednesday at Blue Bear Golf Club.
The Golden Bears had three golfers break 80 to post a 317 team score to defeat runner-up Roncalli (326) by nine strokes.
Indianapolis Lutheran’s Caden Perkins was the medalist with a round of 74.
Logan Reinhart topped Shelbyville’s scorecard with a 77. Brock Wischmeyer and Jake Garrison each shot 79. Logan Tobian followed with 82 and Ethan Hughes shot 86.
Shelbyville fielded a second varsity squad that shot 385. Blake Bryant led the Golden Bears Gold squad with an 82.
Shelbyville travels to Greensburg Friday for the 12-team sectional that will be played at the Greensburg Country Club. The field also includes Batesville, Columbus East, Columbus North, East Central, Greensburg, Hauser, Jac-Cen-Del, Milan, North Decatur, South Ripley and Southwestern.
The golf programs from Triton Central and Morristown compete Monday in the Greenfield-Central Sectional at Hawk’s Tail of Greenfield. That field also includes Blue River Valley, Eastern Hancock, Greenfield-Central, Knightstown, Mt. Vernon, New Castle, New Palestine, Shenandoah and Tri.
The top three teams and the top three low individuals not on an advancing team qualify for regional events.
Those advancing out of the Greenfield-Central Sectional go to the Muncie Central Regional, held at The Players Club.
The Greensburg Sectional feeds into the Providence Regional, held at Champions Pointe.
