Heating problems continue to plague Parkview Junior High School in Lawrenceville this winter.
Lawrence Unit #20 Superintendent Doug Daugherty reported to the Board of Education Monday that the district is still working with heating company on getting the parts for units that are not working. Repairs have been made to some heating units, but others continue to break down. He told GIANT-FM News that it is hoped that repairs to be made at the school over the holiday break will have things back to normal by the time students return.
A request was made to the board to look at a new practice facility for the ever-growing Lawrence County wrestling program. The number of participants in the sport is on the rise locally and that has put a premium on available room for practices for both boys and girls. The matter has been referred to the Building and Grounds Committee to look at different options available, including construction of a new building. No firm timetable has been set.
The board did set the date for the 2026 Lawrenceville High School Prom-Saturday, May 2nd at the Highland Woods Center in Vincennes.
