Work is continuing toward the hiring of a superintendent to head up the Lawrence County Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC).
The Commission Board met at the Lawrenceville V.F.W. Post 2244 and tabled setting a date for the posting of the superintendent position. The person selected for the job will head the organization in its efforts to provide assistance to Lawrence County veterans and their families.
It is hoped to have the superintendent in place by March of 2028. Funding from the county for the Commission of around an estimated $83 to $85,000 is anticipated to begin in March of 2028. Advertising in various service-oriented publications and websites for applicants is expected to begin as soon as a job description is created with qualifications.
Work is also underway to establish official information regarding the proposed VAC office in the Lawrence County Health Department such as an address, phone numbers, logos and signage.
The next VAC Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4th at the V.F.W. Post at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
