Total Grain Marketing, based out of Effingham (Ill.), has announced the completion of a major expansion of its Lis facility in Jasper County in southeastern Illinois.
Added to the location west of Newton on Illinois Route 33 was a new 115-car railroad loop track, a 60,000-bushel-per-hour rail loadout system, and 3.15 million bushels of additional grain storage space.
Company officials say these upgrades will improve harvest efficiency for southern and southeastern Illinois farmers while expanding access to new grain markets. They added that the investment strengthens the company's ability to serve customers with greater speed, capacity and market access and create additional grain marketing opportunities across the region.
