Triton students and staff put others over self during annual Triton Gives Back Day

Triton School Corporation students and staff stepped beyond the classroom Friday morning to put others over self during the annual Triton Gives Back Day, a school-wide day of service dedicated to making a meaningful difference throughout the communities that surround and support Triton.

From local parks and schools to community organizations and nonprofits, students and staff spent the morning volunteering their time, energy, and talents to help wherever they were needed. Service projects took place at locations including Potawatomi Wildlife Park, Mills Pond Trails, Kids Kingdom, Little Lambs Preschool, Bread of Life, Potato Creek State Park, and many other locations throughout the community.

While those locations represent only a portion of the day’s service projects, one thing was true across the entire corporation: every Triton student had the opportunity to serve.

Students worked alongside staff members to complete projects ranging from cleanup and beautification efforts to helping local organizations with tasks that will have a lasting impact. More than simply completing a list of service projects, the day gave students the opportunity to experience firsthand what it means to contribute to something bigger than themselves.

The day also reflects Triton School Corporation’s commitment to developing students who understand the importance of character, compassion, responsibility, and service. By connecting students with organizations and community members who make a difference every day, Triton Gives Back helps students understand that they, too, have an important role to play in strengthening the communities they call home.

For the organizations that welcomed Triton volunteers, the morning provided an extra set of hands. For the students, it provided something just as valuable: an opportunity to learn that giving back isn’t simply something we do; it’s part of who we are.

From the youngest students to the oldest, the Triton School Corporation’s community came together with a shared purpose: to put others over self and make a difference.

Friday, the Trojans weren’t just learning about service. They were living it.
