The Sumner City Police Department has informed GIANT-FM WAKO News that effective immediately, Officer Carleton Valiant has been placed on paid administrative leave.
The action follows an internal investigation initiated by Police Chief Doyal Hofmann and City Administrator Travis Trainer regarding potential violations of departmental policies and professional standards. No other information is being released at this time, as the situation remains a personnel matter until the investigation is completed.
Valiant will remain on paid administrative leave pending a review at a special session of the Sumner City Council early next month. Mayor Betty Brian has called for that special session to be held on Thursday, May 7th at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall located at 224 South Christy Street.
