The Shelby County Traffic Safety Partnership that is comprised of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and the Shelbyville Police Department recently completed extra patrols that focused on impaired and dangerous driving.

Beginning this week, extra patrols will still look for impaired and dangerous driving as well as all other moving violations.  The primary focus will be on seat belt use.

Extra patrols are funded by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

Seat belts are not always the most popular thing to wear, but it is hard to ignore all the safety benefits the belts provide. These extra patrols funded by a grant allow us more patrols to look for non-seat belt use and hopefully save lives by encouraging seat belt use," said Shelby County Sheriff Chris Holder.
