A Plymouth woman was arrested over the weekend on drug-related charges.
On Saturday, June 22nd, Deputy Geiger of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department was called to check on a suspicious vehicle and persons around 6:30 a.m. The vehicle and persons in question were parked on Oak Road, north of U.S. 6.
Upon the deputy’s arrival, he found that one passenger had illegal substances. 25-year-old Chasity Smith of Plymouth was in possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. She was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in with charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. She was given a court date and a cash bond of $1,500. She has yet to be released from the Marshall County Jail.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
