102nd District Republican State Representative Adam Niemerg has announced that his meat processing improvement bill has passed unanimously out of the Illinois House of Representatives in Springfield. The legislation would bring uniformity to government redundancy and regulations on meat inspections by the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Neimerg has been working on the issue for over two years and says it has the backing of the Illinois Farm Bureau, Illinois Beef Association and the Illinois Association of Meat Processors. Neimerg, who represents the largest agricultural district in Illinois says the legislation now goes to the Illinois Senate for consideration.
