The Lawrence County Board has voted to purchase the communication tower located at the E-911 Center in Bridgeport.
The move to buy the structure from American Messaging Services has been looked at for a long time. It was initially thought that the county owned the tower, but that is not the case. The purchase for $5000 was made in order to add items to the tower which will improve the communications between emergency service agencies in the county.
The board, upon recommendation of its insurance and finance committees, moved to raise the county contribution to employee health insurance 5% by $100 up to $750.
Approved was a resolution for the adoption of the 10-year county hazard mitigation plan was required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in order to get federal assistance.
Three reappointments were approved:
Greg Smith to the Eagle Branch Drainage District (3-year term)
A.J. Mushrush to the Big Slough Drainage District (3-year term)
Bill Siegle to the English Pond Drainage District (3-year term)
