Jail Booking
• Daniel R. Melvin, 63, of Kewanna, was arrested Tuesday on preliminary charges of battery resulting in bodily injury and strangulation. He was taken into custody by sheriff's deputies at 10103 W. 50 South, Kewanna, after allegedly grabbing a man by the throat and threatening to kill him for mushroom hunting on the property. He was held on a $2,500 surety or $500 cash bond.

Thefts
• At 11:22 a.m. Tuesday, police received a report about the theft of items from 618 W. 12th St., Rochester.
• Shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday, a Kewanna man reported that his ex-girlfriend stole $20 from him after breaking a window and door at his home. He was advised to file for eviction, as she has reportedly been living with him for years. Protective order information also was provided.
Animal call
• At 1:19 p.m. Tuesday, police received a report about a cat in a drain near football fields of Rochester High School. It was retrieved by animal control and taken to the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center.
Cited
• Shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday, a driver was cited with speeding 96 mph in a 60 mph zone at U.S. 31 and Monticello Road. A warning also was issued for no turn signals.
Civil issue
• At 2:31 p.m. Tuesday, a man requested to speak with a deputy in reference to a vehicle being sold and the buyer requesting some of the money back. He was advised the matter was civil in nature.
Drug trash
• At 3:02 p.m. Tuesday, police received a report that drug trash, including a white substance and paraphernalia, was found at Pak-A-Sak, 1030 Main St. An officer took possession of the items for proper disposal.
Mischief
• At 3:19 p.m. Tuesday, police received a report that graves were possibly tampered with at Leiters Ford Cemetery.
Extra patrol
• Sheds on the property of Northern Traders, 2801 N. Old U.S. 31, were checked around 1 a.m. Wednesday as follow-up to a report of someone possibly living in them.
