Shelbyville-based 3 Towers Broadcasting, owned by Scott Huber and Johnny McCrory, is purchasing Z92.5 (WZWZ), Rock 98.5 (WMYK) and The Score AM 1350 (WIOU).
3 Towers Broadcasting Company, LLC has reached an agreement with Hoosier AM/FM to acquire three radio stations in Kokomo, Indiana.
Shelbyville-based 3 Towers Broadcasting, owned by Scott Huber and Johnny McCrory, is purchasing Z92.5 (WZWZ), Rock 98.5 (WMYK) and The Score AM 1350 (WIOU). 3 Towers will begin operating the stations under an LMA on Aug. 1.
All three stations are located in a facility on Indiana State Road 26.
The transaction is pending approval from the Federal Communications Commission.
WZWZ, WMYK and WIOU will add to the GIANT fm operations in Indiana which include WSVX in Shelbyville and Greenfield, WROI in Rochester, WREB in Greencastle, WTCA in Plymouth, WAXI in Rockville and WFML in Vincennes. WAKO AM / FM is also a 3 Towers property in Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Much like the other properties controlled by 3 Towers Broadcasting, the Kokomo stations have served as longtime members of their communities. WIOU began operations in 1948. WZWZ began at 93.5 FM in 1964 and could be found on 92.7 FM from 1986-1995 before moving to its current frequency, 92.5, in 1995. WMYK began broadcasting in 1964.
Hoosier AM/FM, meanwhile, will continue in Marion, Ind., with four stations it operates in Grant County.
3 Towers Broadcasting began operations with the purchase of WSVX in Shelbyville on July 1, 2007.
“It’s another opportunity to expand our GIANT fm brand and join in a partnership with a community in central Indiana. We are excited to bring our GIANT fm radio presence and online news publication sites to Kokomo,” said McCrory. “GIANT fm has a proven track record of being a vital source of news, sports and entertainment for listeners and readers in its communities. We look forward to applying our brand of radio, online and community service to Kokomo and Howard County.”
