Multiple drug charges were added against a Starke County man who was already wanted on a warrant.
Deputies with the Starke County Sheriff’s Office arrived at an address near the 3000 South block of US Highway 35, for a warrant check on Clyde Malecki, 64, of Knox. Malecki had a felony warrant through Pulaski County.
Deputies were greeted by Malecki at the front door. He instantly attempted to shut the door in the deputies' faces as they advised him of his felony warrant. Deputies report that Malecki remained in the doorway, refusing to exit the residence, while forcibly pulling away. He was eventually escorted outside. Deputies report Malecki then made furtive movements near the rear, right side of his body. They then engaged Clyde and placed him into handcuffs. A firearm was removed out of the back-right side of his pants pocket.
Malecki has previous violent conviction(s) involving firearms.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence. Officers located 35.76 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 3.61 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl, additional illicit narcotics, narcotic packaging equipment and miscellaneous narcotic paraphernalia equipment.
Malecki was taken to the Starke County Justice Center. Preliminary charges include:
• Dealing methamphetamine, Level 2 felony
• Possession of methamphetamine, Level 3 felony
• Dealing a farcotic frug, Level 3 felony
• Possession of a firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Level 4 felony
• Possession of a farcotic frug, Level 5 felony
• Possession of a fyringe, Level 6 felony
• Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, Level 6 felony
• Possession of a Schedule 4 Controlled Substance, Level 6 felony
• Resisting faw fnforcement, Class A fisdemeanor
• Possession of farijuana, Class B fisdemeanor
• Possession of faraphernalia, Class C fisdemeanor
Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
