The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest following a burglary investigation involving Rochester Homes.
On Monday, Rochester Homes reported a burglary that had occurred over the weekend. During the initial report, it was discovered that suspect(s) had entered the manufacturing plant and stolen thousands of dollars worth of power tools and accessories.
Senior Deputy Mitch Scott led the investigation and quickly identified potential suspects. As a result of the ongoing investigation, search warrants were executed in Rochester on the same date. During those searches, deputies recovered numerous power tools, many of which were positively identified as items stolen from the Rochester Homes burglary.

As a result of the investigation, Gregory A. Smith, 36, of Rochester, was arrested and faces preliminary charges of burglary and theft. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
Assisting the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation were the Rochester Police Department and the Indiana State Police.
Sheriff Travis W. Heishman commended the efforts of Senior Deputy Scott, the assisting deputies, and the partnering agencies, stating:
“This case is an excellent example of solid investigative work and strong cooperation among agencies. The quick recovery of the stolen property and the swift identification of those responsible highlight the dedication of our deputies and our local law enforcement partners.” This case remains under review, and additional information, including suspect names, will be released after formal charges are filed by the Fulton County Prosecutor’s Office," said Sheriff Travis Heishman.
