Peru man arrested for possession of CSAM following 3-month investigation

Detectives from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, along with troopers from the Indiana State Police Peru Post, arrested a Peru man on multiple felony charges for possession of child sex abuse material (CSAM).

The investigation began in July 2025 after a complaint was received regarding an individual distributing CSAM. The Miami County Prosecutor's Office issued a search warrant for the residence of Jason L. Jessup, 43, in Peru. During the execution of the search warrant, multiple electronic devices were seized, and these devices contained CSAM.

On Wednesday, the Miami Superior Court II issued an arrest warrant. Members of the Indiana State Police Peru Post executed this warrant, taking Jessup into custody without incident. He was transported to and remanded at the Miami County Jail on 10 counts of Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material – Level 5 Felony.

The Indiana ICAC is a multiagency task force led by the Indiana State Police that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to sexually exploit or entice children. Each year, Indiana ICAC investigators evaluate thousands of tips, investigate hundreds of cases, and rescue dozens of children from ongoing sexual abuse. The Indiana ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes against children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Under the law, criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
