The Marshall County Unity Gardens team will host cleanup and planting days at the Plymouth Unity Gardens, located at the Marshall County Council on Aging, 1305 West Harrison Street in Plymouth. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 12th, from 1 to 3 PM and Thursday, March 13th, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
These workdays include general garden cleanup, topping off the raised beds, and planting cold-season crops. Yes! Even with snow on the ground, some seeds, such as beets and spinach, can begin to be planted.
All community members are welcome to attend this work session if they are interested in helping at the Unity Gardens or if they would like to get more information regarding this community initiative. The gardens are made possible by the ongoing efforts of community volunteers, support from the Marshall County Master Gardeners and the Marshall County Council on Aging, and many donations from local organizations and businesses.
The Plymouth Unity Gardens wish list includes deer netting, new 50’ garden hoses, and adjustable garden water nozzles (wand style). These items can be donated to the Marshall County Council on Aging.
The Unity Garden committee is excited to announce that additional community garden locations are currently in the planning and construction stages. More information will be available soon!
