The Lawrence County Board has approved an increased 2025 property tax levy
The estimated total property taxes to be levied for in 2025 are $3,090,200. That total represented a 20.34% increase over the previous year. There was a truth in taxation public hearing held prior to the session which lasted approximately 1 1/2 hour in which many citizens expressed their concerns over rising property taxes and county finances. The vote for the levy passage was unanimous.
The board also approved its fiscal year 2026 budget and did announce that they had come to an agreement on a 3-year collective bargaining agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
