The Duke Energy Foundation announced nearly $50,000 in grants to 10 Indiana organizations that serve veterans and military families. The funding will support programs that honor Hoosier veterans and help them with transitional housing, mental health services and essential needs in communities across the state.

“Veterans embody service, leadership and commitment – qualities that strengthen our communities every day,” said Stan Pinegar, president of Duke Energy Indiana. “These grants are a token of our appreciation and a way to help local partners deliver the housing, counseling and basic needs that veterans and their families deserve.”

Included in the grants:

  • Family Service Association of Howard County (Howard County) – $3,250

Funds will be used to revitalize the Peace Garden in Kokomo at Jackson Street Commons. The garden honors Pearl Harbor survivors, victims of internment and the 100th Infantry Battalion.
