The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was notified of a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 31 near U.S. 30 on Sunday at approximately 2:30 p.m.
County officers located the crashed vehicle and its male driver, later identified as 61-year-old Mac McQueary Jr. of South Bend. Officer Rans discovered that McQueary was operating the vehicle with a driver's license status of Habitual Traffic Violator—Lifetime.
McQuery was treated for minor injuries at the hospital before being transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked as a habitual traffic violator for life and on false reporting charges. He is scheduled for an initial hearing in Marshall Superior Court III on March 11 and is held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause constitutes a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has taken place. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to representation by counsel, and entitled to a trial by jury, at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt can be rendered.
