Drug charges involved in ISP traffic stop

A traffic stop resulted in two drug related arrests for Indiana State Police.

An Indiana State Police trooper made a traffic stop on a 1997 Jeep for an equipment violation near the intersection of E. Hatchery Road and Hiawatha Lane near Syracuse. As the trooper approached the Jeep, he saw that it was occupied by two males and that the male passenger was not wearing his seatbelt.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as Ryan Kennelly, 38, of Cromwell, was reportedly showing signs of impairment. While the trooper spoke to Kennelly, the passenger in the Jeep, identified as Shane Senter, 50, of Warsaw, opened the passenger door to leave the traffic stop but was told he could not due to his violation.

Once an additional officer arrived, Senter was discovered to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, several pills believed to be narcotics, two hypodermic needles, and suspected marijuana.

Kennelly was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine as well as items of drug paraphernalia that were discovered in his Jeep. During this time Senter began to complain of a medical emergency and an ambulance was called.

Kennelly was transported to a local hospital for a certified test for intoxication and then booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 5 Felony, Unlawful Possession of a Syringe Prior, Level 5 Felony, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Level 6 Felony, OWI Endangerment, Class A Misdemeanor, OWI Controlled Substance, Class C Misdemeanor, Possession of Paraphernalia, Class C Misdemeanor, and Operating a Vehicle with Suspended Registration, Class C Misdemeanor.

Senter was transported to a local hospital due to his complaint of the medical emergency. Several hours later he was medically cleared. He was then transported to the Kosciusko County Jail for Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 5 Felony, Unlawful Possession of a Syringe, Level 6 Felony, Obstruction of Justice, Level 6 Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Class A Misdemeanor, Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor, Possession of Paraphernalia, Class C Misdemeanor, and Visiting a Common Nuisance.
