Members of the Plymouth Common Council passed a resolution to make a transfer from the General Fund into the city’s Rainy-Day Fund at their last city meeting.
City Attorney Jeff Houin told council members the city has been in a position to make a transfer into the Rainy-Day Fund every year. The transfer is possible with the assistance of the Clerk-Treasurer who helps determine the amount of the transfer from the unnecumbered reserves in the General Fund to the Rainy-Day Fund.
Councilman Don Ecker said, “I want to compliment and thank the department heads, clerk-treasurer, and the department for all the work they have done. This is not easy. There’s some reappropriations that go on throughout the year and there are obviously some surprises that come up throughout the year as well that have to be addressed and somehow the department heads along with the clerk-treasurer seem to make it work and I just want to say thank you.”
Ecker made the motion to approve the transfer of $900,000 and the city council unanimously approved the transfer to the Rainy-Day Fund.
