Nappanee man arrested at Pla Mor Campground after threatening guests, assaulting officers

A 29-year-old Nappanee man was arrested Saturday afternoon after a disturbance at a Marshall County campground that escalated from threatening behavior toward fellow guests to physical altercations with responding law enforcement officers.

On Saturday, May 23rd, at 3:34 in the afternoon, Marshall County Police were dispatched to Pla Mor Campground on U.S. 6 east of Bremen in response to a report of an unruly guest. Officers located Ariel U. Amaya, 29, who had been reported for threatening other guests and urinating in public view.

When officers attempted to speak with Amaya, he became aggressive and was detained. While in custody, Amaya's behavior escalated further — he kicked at an officer, attempted to bite officers, and made threats to kill law enforcement personnel. He was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Marshall County Jail.

Amaya faces the following charges: indecent exposure, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication by alcohol or drugs, Level 5 felony battery against a public safety official with injury, and Level 6 felony intimidation. A cash bond of $10,000 was set.

The arrest was made by Deputy Hafke of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.

All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
