Congratulations to sophomore Haven Sanders of the Lawrenceville Lady track and field Indians.
She captured the high jump title at the Class 1A Newton Girls Sectional meet Wednesday at Newton. She won the event with a leap of 1.52 meters (5 feet). She now qualifies for the IHSA girls state track finals coming up Thursday May 22nd through Saturday May 24th at O'Brien Stadium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
Caitlee Gray of the Red Hill Lady Salukis finished third in the triple jump and fourth in the 200 meters at the sectional.
Effingham St Anthony won the sectional team title with 136.5 points with host Newton second with 133, Teutopolis third with 64 and Altamont fourth with 51. The Lady Salukis finished 13th in the 16-team field with 19.5 points while the Lady Indians were 14th with 16 points.
