The Plymouth Rockies boys soccer team shut out South Bend Riley and advanced to the semifinal round of the Class 3A Mishawaka Marian Sectional.
Chris Rosas scored twice, and teammate Giancarlo Arriaga added the third goal. Isaak Hutchinson and Dom Zelaya each earned an assist in the Plymouth 3-0 win.
"Overall, a dominant game from us, we controlled possession and tempo of the game from start to finish. Created constant threats through our wingers and could’ve had many more than three. We move on to Wednesday against a very good SB Adams team," said head coach Jesus Jimenez.
Plymouth (7-6-3) will play 18th-ranked South Bend Adams (12-2-2) in a 5 p.m. semifinal Wednesday at Mishawaka Marian. The 7 p.m. semifinal on Wednesday will include the winners of Tuesday's quarterfinals, Mishawaka Marian-LaPorte and Michigan City-South Bend Washington.
Meanwhile, the Plymouth girls soccer team waits to open postseason play on its home field. Plymouth is hosting 2A Sectional 21 and will play NLC foe Wawasee (0-15-1) in Thursday's first semifinal. Plymouth (3-9-3) shut out Wawasee 2-0 on Sept. 24.
At Plymouth tonight, Tippecanoe Valley will play Northwood for a berth in the other Thursday semifinal against Culver Academies.
