Former Lawrenceville Indian basketball great Doug Novsek is making a move to coach in high school.
The longtime college assistant was named this week as the new head boys coach of the Mt. Vernon (Ind.) Wildcats. He was hired at a school board meeting Tuesday and will replace Joe Newcomb, who left for Springs Valley.
The Lawrence County native spent the past two seasons as an assistant at the University of Southern Indiana (USI) before stepping down. He brings over 30 years of collegiate coaching experience as an assistant to the position.
Mount Vernon was 13-13 this past season and returns a number of starters.
