Emery Ivers blasted a solo homer in the top of the 9th inning Thursday to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Lawrenceville baseball Indians a 2-1 extra-inning win over the Red Hill Salukis at the Tank Farm in Bridgeport.
The hosts scored their run in the bottom of the fourth driven in by Jaxon Kiser before the Tribe scored to tie the contest in the fifth. Good pitching then dominated for both sides before Iver's heroics. The Indians scored 2 runs on 4 hits with 2 errors while the Salukis scored 1 run on 3 hits and made 1 error. Brody Wattles had 2 of the 3 Saluki hits. Boston Gray picked up the pitching win for the Indians with Hunter Gray getting the save. Marcus Davis took the loss in relief for the Salukis.
The win snaps a four-game losing streak for the Indians who are now 9-10 on the season with one game left in the regular season Friday at Paris. The Salukis close up the regular season at 9-8 and will play Farina (South Central) in Class 1A regional semi-final action Wednesday at 7 p.m. at South Central.
