The march toward a potential Class 1A state basketball title remains alive for the Lawrenceville basketball Indians.
They rallied in the second half to come from behind and beat the Louisville (North Clay) Cardinals 59-52 on their Clay County State Bank Arena home court and win the Class 1A Louisville Regional Friday night.
The hosts led 16-14 after one quarter and 31-30 at the half before the Indians shifted defense from man-to-man to zone to stop the Cardinal inside game and began to dominate on the offensive boards and took a 42-39 lead after three quarters. They then held off a late rally by North Clay to win and pick up their eighth straight win to improve to 31-2 overall on the season.
Four scored in double digits for the Indians. Noah Wilson led the way with 18 points, Jacek Mickiewicz and Zander Cessna each had 12 and Jayden Goff added 10. Cessna surpassed the career 1000 point mark with his total.
Next up for the Tribe - a Wednesday March 4 date with Casey-Westfield in the Macon (Meridian) Sectional at 7 p.m. with the action on GIANT-FM 103.1 with Steve Anderson and Bill Richardson.
