The Lawrence County Board will have a new member, and the Lawrence County Treasurer's Office will continue under the same leadership after the 2026 General Election Tuesday in Lawrence County (Illinois).
Political newcomer Republican Susan McDonald captured the contested race for the District 7 seat on the county board with a win over Sheryl Ring-Laakman 315 to 146. She will replace Mark Jones, who did not run for re-election.
Incumbent Republican Lawrence County Treasurer Barbie Morey was elected to her fifth term in office as she defeated challenger Billie Ralston 2,820 to 1,632.
Those were the only two contested local races. The Republican ticket of Darren Bailey and Aaron Del Mar, incumbent 12th District Republican Congressman Mike Bost, Republican Senate candidate Donald Tracy, and Republican Robert Fioretti all were winners of federal and state races in the county.
Voter turnout for the election was rated as good by Lawrence County Clerk Will Gibson. Of the 9,043 registered voters in Lawrence County, 4,507 cast ballots in the Tuesday election--a turnout of 49.89%
