Accused murderer Megan Valentine is seeking a change of venue for her upcoming murder trial.
Edwards County court records indicate that her attorney, Jessica Koester, has filed a motion with the court arguing that extensive media coverage and strong community familiarity with the victim make it virtually impossible to seat a local impartial jury.
The 45-year-old Valentine is charged with First-Degree Murder in the early November 2024 shooting death of her husband, Edwards County resident judge Michael Valentine.
Presiding judge William Thurston is to rule on the motion at a Friday, December 19th hearing in Edwards County Circuit Court. Valentine remains incarcerated in the Wayne County Jail in Fairfield.
