INDOT advising the public to be on the lookout for tree work throughout Northwest Indiana.
Be alert for crews trimming / removing trees along state right of way through the end of March.
Tree clearing can only occur during inactive bat season unless permission is granted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. In Indiana, that period is generally October 1 - March 31.
Trees often need to be trimmed or removed in areas where road construction will occur so many crews will be out ensuring this is done by the April 1 deadline. Please slow down and give them plenty of room to work.
If you see crews doing this work, it's a sign that construction may be occurring there this year. You can check out the long-term project map to see what is planned: bit.ly/INDOTProjectMap
