The burn ban for both Lawrence and Richland Counties has now been lifted.
It was discontinued late Thursday, October 15th by order of the fire chiefs of the Christy, Lawrence-Allison, Bridgeport, and Denison Fire Protection Districts in Lawrence County and of the Claremont, Noble-Wakefield and Olney Fire Departments in neighboring Richland County.
The ban was issued on Thursday, October 8th after both counties experienced dry and windy conditions over a period of several days which led to a large number of field and property fires and the continued risk of even larger fires.
Despite the ban being lifted, fire officials continue to stress the importance of burning responsibly outdoors.
