The office of the Illinois State Fire Marshall (OSFM) has announced the recipients of the 2026 Small Equipment Grant Program. The program was established to provide grants of up to $26,000 each for the purpose of purchasing small firefighting and ambulance equipment.
A total of $6 million was awarded to 260 fire departments/districts and EMS providers across the state who now have the opportunity to get needed equipment that they may not otherwise have been able to purchase. There were 355 applications received requesting just over $8 million in funding for this grant period.
Three Lawrence County agencies were selected for the grants. The Lawrence-Allison Fire Protection District will receive $25,968, the Lawrence County Ambulance Service $26,000 and the Bridgeport Fire Protection District $26,000.
